Macbeth at Brownsea Island - Friday 9 August 2024
Eight of us took the ferry to Brownsea Island on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Everyone brought some food to share and we enjoyed a feast of a picnic on the field before taking our seats for the theatre production. Macbeth in the open air was so atmospheric, and a huge cast of actors brought the story to life.
Cakes at the Cove - Wednesday 7 August 2024
on the way down to the beach, our stall proved very popular with both locals and holidaymakers snapping up cakes and savouries. Our hand made crafts were also a hit, as were our preserves and doggy accessories.
Craft stall at Wareham Carnival - Sunday 21 July 2024
On the field, at the finish point of the carnival procession, our craft tent was bursting with lovely hand made crafty items as well as an array of jams and marmalades.
DFWI Carol Festival - December 2023
Six members ventured out in the pouring rain to head up to Sherborne for the Carol Festival. We met at the Pear Tree cafe for some lunch before going into the beautiful Sherborne Abbey for the service. We all enjoyed singing the carols and listening to the readings inside this awesome building. The DFWI choir (who also sang at Wimborne Minster the previous week) was fantastic, and included our own Janet Jones.
County Quiz Final - October 2023
Three teams from West Lulworth WI made it to the final this year. Our A Team came second, with the others still having respectable scores.

Big Canoe Adventure - Tuesday 22 August 2023
Nine members of West Lulworth WI, plus 11 friends and relatives, enjoyed a fantastic day on the water. Ideal weather with light winds and gentle sunshine. Led by instructors from Brenscombe Outdoor Centre, we set off in two big canoes from Cleavell Point, and paddled across Poole Harbour to Brownsea Island (and back!).

who enjoyed our yummy cakes and savouries. They were also pleased to take home some of our lovely hand made crafts, and the dogs were delighted to take part in the ever-popular doggie tombola!

A fun day, albeit a bit windy, when we were able to sell some of our lovely individual craft items. All locally hand-made, using sustainable materials wherever possible.
Visit to Creech Barrow
following on from our fascinating talk
Tuesday 9 May 2023 at 10 am
Twelve of us met at the Cake House cafe at East Creech at 10am, and walked down the road to visit the Memorial of the Creech Barrow Seven, a secret resistance unit operating during WW2. We then continued our walk through the lovely Kilwood nature reserve, joining the bridleway back through the woods. We then treated ourselves to coffee, cakes and lunches.
Visit to Jigsaw Puzzle Factory

Eight members, along with two guests, enjoyed a fascinating visit to a puzzle factory at Ashmore. Julie, from JHG Puzzles, gave us a comprehensive tour of the factory, demonstrating each part of the puzzle-making process, from printing, pressing and bagging the puzzles, to printing and packing the boxes, and plenty of other operations in between. In a separate area we could see how wooden puzzles are created by laser cutting. The tour was followed by tea and homemade cake, and we had the opportunity to buy some of the boxed puzzles to enjoy later. Well worth a visit!
